Being a Brit in Canada I couldn't help myself and got up at 1 a.m. to watch the Royal Wedding live on tele. Zack didn't know what was going on that time of the morning but as soon as the wedding started he was fascinated by the whole ceremony and was glued to it just like me!!
AND MOLLY TOO!!

Peeewww what a Pong!!!
On Saturday Dylan decided to go take a dip in our local pond and as his back end went under a cloud of mud rose to the surface around him and as he came out he was coated in thick mud with a hint of pond scum. What was a blond Labradoodle was now a stinky Chocolate Labradoodle. Yuck.
Then last night we took the dogs to Park Lake for a run and on the way back through the trees Zacky got into his frenzied critter mode and wouldn't listen so I put him back on his lead as we were near the road. Back at the car and in a safer place I thought I would let Zack off one more time so he and Dylan could charge up and down the beach. As I let Zack off the lead he must of caught a whiff of something and he was off - 50 yards, 60, 70 yards - I was starting to panick and then Zack stopped, dropped and rolled, and rolled, and rolled. By the time we caught up to him he was doing a great impression of a breakdancer, wiggle wiggle wiggle, legs flailing, and then underneath him there it was a big, juicy rotten fish which Zack had managed to cover every inch of his body in. Zack then got up as if to say, look what I found mum!!! The smell in the car home was horrific and 15 minutes felt like an hour. Zack got a bath straight away.
After which he tore round the house for about an hour before finally settling down.
Little bugger. LOL.

DAY TRIP (cont.)
We got to Waterton Lakes National Park and it was spectacular. The snow was still so deep it was up to the roofs of the houses and some houses had disappeared altogether!!! We couldn't find a place to stop for lunch anywhere due to the snow the only thing that was ploughed was the road in and out.
Then the other side of the campground we saw an opening. They had carved through the 10ft of snow and made paths I assume for snow shoers or cross country skiers (of course which we didn't have), but it was an opening and we went for it.
I know it is cliche, but it was so amazing, it was warm and sunny and everywhere you looked glistened. It was one of those experiences that you just had to be there and will never forget. The dogs were happy to get out and stretch their legs, although it was a bit deep at times.
Zack charged about like the energizer bunny.
Having the odd mishap (LOL)
He even got Dylan going.
Sidetracked - squirrels???
Happy Easter from my little mountain man.

A GOOD GOOD FRIDAY
It was a lovely day yesterday so Pete and I decided to go for a drive, pack up the car and the dogs and go on a day trip to the mountains (we are looking after Dylan for a week - so he came too - yay!)
Firstly, we went to the Crowsnest Pass and stopped at the river to let the dogs out for a bit and to check out the "fishing conditions". I was suprised there was so much snow still as it was warm and sunny and the snow at home had all melted a couple of days ago.
Zack just loved every minute of it.
On the road again, we decided to cut through and go to Waterton Lakes National Park to have our lunch and walk the dogs, etc. We noticed on the way there the snow was alot deeper and the mountains looked gorgeous (little did we know what was ahead of us).
We stopped at a lookout to "have a look"(LOL)and stretch our legs but the snow was so deep poor Zack could not maneouvre very well.
We then entered Waterton Lakes National Park and had an amazing afternoon....but that's a whole other blog.

The Other Four Letter Word
S-N-O-W
Will Spring ever arrive - that is the question. This last week it has been one spring storm after another and they never seem to stop coming. It has been the worst winter in years and we have had so much snow. It is only around zero degrees celcius so it melts very quickly but also piles up quickly.
This means after Zack has been for his daily walk and run in the fields
he comes back dripping wet
and his coat goes all wild and crazy down his back. The other day someone even said he looks like a Hyena.
Zack was not amused.

Zack Has Met His Match
Meet Nina, our friend's new 4 month old miniature schnauzer puppy. She is wild and crazy and the cutest thing and Zack and Nina hit it off right away and wouldn't stop playing. Nina played as hard as Zack and it continued for the 4 1/2 hours we were there visiting. He truly met his perfect playmate.
Nina and Zack tore round the house and drove us nuts but they had the best time and it was great to see Zack having some other dog who can keep up with his playing.
Zack would steal toys from the toy box and then take off teasing her.
But Nina clued in after a while and blocked him off as he tried to sneak by. I love her cute little white butt.
Both Nina and Zack were given a lesson on how to share the toys nicely but I don't think either of them could give a hoot and it was a free for all no matter what.
But then our friend's other dog Kiki, their 9 yr old lab, taught "the Littluns" whose house this was and whose toys these were. Zack respected Queen Kiki!!
Nina wouldn't leave Zack's side even after dark she would follow him out in the yard and back. May be Nina will become Zack's new BFF once Dylan has moved away. I sure hope so as they make a cute couple LOL!!!
