Winter Won't End

Last week we got another dump of snow but it wasn't too cold so I met up with my friend Liz and her little dog Zoey and went to the park.   The park was empty so we let the dogs off for a run while nobody was about, here are just a few of the photos from that day.

Molly and Zoey had to plough through the snow with their short legs but they seemed to have fun anyway,   It's amazing what a couple more inches of leg will do, Zack was clear and ran like the wind.

There was no hope that Zoey would catch him.

But it wasn't for lack of trying

These two look so cute together, the "pink ladies".

We heard a woodpecker, or so we thought it was this flicker (I think)  pecking at the birdhouse in someone's back garden.  They must be from the woodpecker family, I will have to look that up in my bird book…..

Since this walk the snow had started to melt during the week but now we got freezing rain and everything was treacherous this morning with a skiff of snow on top.   Its been a very long winter this year, I am counting every blade of green grass that shows it's face then I know spring is on it's way.

Road Trip - second half

It's been a couple of weeks or so since we went on this trip and now here in Lethbridge anyway the snow has all melted.   I am sure the mountains still have a lot out there.   On our way back from our drive we stopped at Lundbreck Falls it was so cool how the waterfall was mostly frozen but still gushing.   The colours in certain light was amazing.

We got out and had our photo taken.

It's too bad that we can't be in the photo altogether but one of us has to take the shot.

We stopped just outside Waterton Lakes National Park and found a road way near the buffalo paddock that was passable so we stopped there for a few minutes.

It was quite picturesque but very cold so we were not out for long.

Zack still has his wooly hair here, he has since has his coat stripped and looks a lot smoother.  It was such a great trip out.    I hope you enjoyed just a little insight into what we got up to.

Road Trip

As I was suffering with my foot a few weeks ago Pete took me and the dogs for one of our famous road trips to get us all out of the house.   It was -18 degrees so very cold out but the weather was fine and so were the roads.    Zack and Molly got strapped into the car and we were off.

Of course you can't go on a road trip without stopping for a coffee at Timmies,  Molly was all excited thinking she was gonna get something, Zack couldn't care less LOL

We were off to the mountains for the day.   The road was clear which was great and the scenery was spectacular.

The famous Burmis tree looks awesome in the winter.

Once in the Crowsnest Pass we went to the Fly Fishing shop that Pete loves.    The store has an Irish Terrier that lives inside(lovely dog) but he was not happy to see Zack and Molly and was causing all sorts of ruckus  so we didn't go inside or stay outside long.

Once we had finished at the store, we drove to one of our favourite spots that we fish along the river.   It looks so different in the winter but as people live along there the road was fine to drive down.

Saw deer along the way.   Gorgeous.

Once at our spot we let the dogs out of the car to run round a bit and pee.  Zack was happy to stretch his legs but we kept Molly on her leash just in case as it was unfamiliar territory and very cold out.

She still enjoyed rummaging just as much as Zacky

Before long their paws were starting to freeze and my hands were cold so it was time to get back into the car.    I wasn't able to walk much so it didn't really matter.

It was cookie time before loading up and the dogs knew it :)

This was just a few hours into our trip.   I will post more about our wonderful day out on another post.  I have a lot of catching up to do with my blogging.   Til next time.

We're Still Here

It has been ages since I have blogged.   Haven't really felt like it lately, don't know why.   I haven't been able to take the dogs out for their usual walks as I have had a lot of pain from a mortons neuroma in my foot, another nerve problem, and also tore the ligaments in my opposite ankle, so have been out of commission for a few weeks.   Tomorrow hopefully I have another appointment with the doctor and can ditch the crutches.    It has put a damper on how often the dogs got to go out and have fun but my husband has taken them for me and also we took a road trip to get me out of the house and the dogs too.

Here are just a few photos of the last month or so.   Pete drove me and the dogs to the top of the coulees so they could have a good run.  It was really cold so we were not out too long:

There was lots of running about

and playing ball

Zack loves his chuck it

Molly aka snow bunny - she runs so fast it scares me

Simon says touch your nose..  I don't know why I just love this photo

Zack and Molly were able to get some pent up energy out and enjoyed every minute of it.   Before long their paws were starting to freeze up and it was time to go home.   When it's -15 degrees you can't stay out for long.
