Bad Mum and Treat Day

Oh no, I ran out of treats!!! The pantry was bare and Zack was not impressed I had forgotten to buy his favourite goodies.

So off we went on a little trip to town....

We stopped at the locally owned pet store where I buy all my stuff. They do not sell dogs and cats so I try and support them and Zack thinks it is great when we go in and the owners know him by name and always ask how he is doing.

Zack is in heaven in the store, checks out all the bins full of toys...

He loved the farting pig!!!!
I always feel bad I can't buy him those toys as he destroys them in seconds and swallows things so they are off limits. I guess I am not a good mum as it must be an awful tease for him, kind of like me in a cake shop!!
But as Zack was such a good boy and did not leave any peemail or nick a bone from the bin the lady at the counter gave him some goodies and some extra pats, which he thought was great. Zack's portion of our pantry at home has now been restocked :)

Oh No, They're Leaving

Some sad news, our friends Martin & Karen and Zack's best buddy Dylan are going to be moving to Vancouver Island.

Hopefully it won't be for a few months yet as they have to sell their house, but still we have become good friends and Zack has known Dylan since he was about 7 months old and they have become close - it is a sad time for all. Also, now we won't have a dog sitter to look after Zack when we go away which is really unfortunate. Karen said that she has fostered and looked after many dogs over the years, but Zack is the only one she would want to keep. He is such a little love bug.

I am sure we will keep in touch with them and we will then have an excuse to take Zack and visit them on the Island.

Mexican Vacation

We just got back from our vacation in Mexico and had a great time.

The resort was great. We swam in the caribbean sea or pool every day and got lots of sun, which was so nice as it was -30 degrees at home.

Went to a very authentic Mexican restaurant which was great.
Mexico is known for it's silver and through all the shops we visited this silver jewellry store had a large silver dog which reminded me of Zack so I just had to take a picture.

There are Iguanas everywhere in Mexico, they are very prolific. Everywhere you turn you see one or more, and man can they run - like bloody speedy gonzalas. Zack would be in heaven and have a field day with them - just like the gophers LOL!!

We had such a great time and it was a bit of a shock to come back to -30 degree weather, but I missed Zack alot while we were away and was glad to see this little face again.

Fat Cat must have missed him too as this morning she even followed Zack to the door when he went outside in the garden just to make sure he wasn't leaving again too!!!

Vacation

Early Monday morning Pete and I leave on holidays for Mexico for a week. I always feel bad leaving Zack behind.

But I know he is in good hands as he will be staying at his best pal Dylan's house. I am sure Martin and Karen will spoil him rotten even tho he will probably be a little terror at times. Dylan is very mellow and calm and Zack is the total opposite when there is another dog about. Dylan is very tolerant of Zack's antics.

There will be another dog added to the mix halfway through the week when Atty, a Griffon, will also be holidaying with Dylan and Zack. Karen & Martin will have their hands full but the dogs will have a blast. I know Atty is obsessed with chuck it balls and there is always a race between Zack and her when it is thrown. It's amazing how fast Zack's little legs can go when he's after a chuck it ball!!!!
When we get back from holidays I am sure Zack will sleep for days. It will be like being at daycare 24/7 for a whole week!!! Blimy.

BLOG TAG

Zack's been tagged by Bodie & Mrs. Magoo

The rules are

1. You have to display this lovely award on your blog.

2. You have to tell 5 things about yourself and 4 of them have to be bald faced lies. And then see who can guess the right one.

3. You have to pass this on to 5 of your friends to play too.

OK here goes the long and the short of it all about me.....

Zack's Pedigree is full of Royal Blood....

He is always calm, cool and collected....

and is so antisocial that he hates it when we go and visit friends.

Zack's thinks that the first thing you should do when you go into a boat is to leap overboard and check out the temperature of the water so we know how deep the fish are!!

This is how Zack spends most of his days just lolling about.

And the friends we would like to tag to play along are:

Crazy Coulee & Little Lacey

Many Muddy Paws

One Collie

High Level Bridge

Lethbridge has an historic high level railway bridge that crosses the river valley. When Zack and I were down there on the weekend a train went over. I took this picture not knowing that Zack made an appearance, can you spot him?

We then squelched our way through the mud, ice, water and snow to the base of the bridge for a closer look. It's pretty impressive when you look up.

Zack didn't hesitate to hop up as he could see above the weeds then and could scout the surroundings for any critters or people to pester

Hypothermic 1/2 Marathon

My husband Pete ran another 1/2 marathon today. When we pulled up Zack knew something was up, the tension was in the air, the anticipation of the race, he was wishing he could run too - but no dogs allowed

Zack wanted to join in the warm up with "the crew"

He was caught at the "back of the pack" just as the race was going to start, he was in his ready, set, go stance... LOL

While the race was underway Zack and I walked around the river valley to pass time. He enjoyed all the different smells although no off leash down there (dam city rules).

The runners had started to spread out alot and we waited for the them to start going by..

and waited...

Then here comes Pete - looking great

Zack went crazy as Pete went by, he screamed bloody murder as he wanted to run on with him, but poor Zack was left behind

Pete then finished strongly and so did his "running buddies" and each got their medals.

Way to go guys!!!!

Lucky Zack

Friday afternoons is when Zack gets to go and play at Doggy Daycare. I never thought until this evening that poor Fat Cat must be a bit lonely by herself now that we lost poor Cuddles 10 days ago. Once Zack got home she had him pinned on the couch pretty quickly and gave him a good once over.

I think she was happy he was home.

The Nylabone

Zack cannot have stuffed toys because he disembowels them within seconds so he gets a Nylabone which he loves.

He loves the hardness and knaws away for ages - the noises he makes with his teeth makes me cringe actually.

Trouble is when he gets his Nylabone he drools like me in front of a chocolate cake which leaves his whiskers soaking wet and a pool of water on the floor.

I am glad he likes them so much - he is so cute.

Gorgeous Day

What more could I ask for on my day off work, no wind and beautiful blue sky day with above freezing temperatures!!! I was supposed to be working on my artwork but I couldn't stay in the house on a day like today so I took Zack out for a 2 hour walk. At first we trudged through a few snow drifts (well I did anyway) Zack didn't sink through like I did but after it was brilliant.

We pretty much have the fields to ourselves during the day which is great. Just have to keep an eye out for coyotes as they have been bothersome in some parts.

Woo hoo, I think Zack has a top knot!!! Are those long hairs I see on top of his head!!!!
